you KNOW i think about that all the time. some friends lovingly started referring to bebe as "w" while he was still in the womb. :)

my other fear is this: "mom, dad, i'm joining the army."

YOU'RE ALMOST THERE!!!!!! get 'em, girl!!!! i'm proud of you!

Oh, that definitely calls for a "timeout."

I think I'd rather the kid say he was gay.

I would say that it depends on how you raise your child, BUT . . . I was raised by my grandparents in a loving home. They were lifelong Republicans and I have become the "black sheep" of the family. I think a more important thing is to make sure you choose the right films for them to watch as they get older. The more you get them to "feel" for the underdog, the more likely they are to turn out properly. Just a thought.

Rewrite the will. Reroute the college fund. Republicans say take care of yourself. So retire early if this happens.

I'm prepared to let my children be what they wan't to be, within reason. This would not be one of those "within reason" times!

Well my daughter, called Melissa bizarrely enough, is beautiful and I get to see her tomorrow for the first time in a while.

*smiles in a very un-Gothic way*

My parents were conservative, and all three of their daughters turned out on the left side of the spectrum. However, my parents did not let their politics get in the way of being the best parents in the world : )

Great cartoon...and I have to say this would be my worst nightmare too. One of the reasons I'm glad I don't have my own kids...I settle for spoiling my nieces and nephews and turning them into good little democrats as they come of age. So far I have been successful with all but one!

That's why you check them out as soon as they are born and if they show any signs of this happening, you put them back where they came from.

Take care of your self and the wee one who is waiting to make a grand appearance.

Now that is a frightening thought. I think as a parent you'd find a way to handle it just fine although it wouldn't be easy.

Hope you are doing well, Melissa. Keep us updated.

Now you all know how my dad felt - that's the dad who thought Nixon was too liberal - when I showed up...
