My Happy Post

Supergirlest recently reminded me how important it is to remember what makes us happy, particularly when the current state of the world looks so dreary. So, in her honor, and also for my own benefit, here are ten things that make me happy:

  1. Apple-blossom scented springs
  2. Picking wild blueberries
  3. Inner-tubing the Walla Walla River in July
  4. Spanish guitar music, especially Boleros and Trios
  5. Butterflies
  6. Used book stores
  7. Loose-leaf teas
  8. Pan dulce
  9. My maternal grandmother's whistle
  10. Soft flannel pajamas

Anything make you happy today?

Observing my wee one learn something new.

Traveling. Anywhere.

A Stroll in the Woods.

Laying back in a summer meadow and watching big puffy clouds flow by.

Peace.

Politiques USA: If you are interested in contributing to the improvement of the situation in the U.S., please do something other than write rude messages to those of us who are working on that already.

On that little attitude of superiority you have: look at your own history, and at what you have going on in your banlieues right now.

Things to do, chosen at random: join RAWA. Fight the spawn of Jean-Marie Le Pen. Start an Amnesty International chapter and help get people out of the secret U.S. gulag. Every minute you spend hassling people like Melissa, is a minute in which you could be doing something useful.

In my experience, people who make arrogant and condescending remarks like yours when young, are themselves voting with the Right within just a few years.
I am not impressed.

--------------------------------------
ANYWAY, GOOD THINGS FOR TODAY.

1. Most people I know are much nicer and smarter than politiques usa, and they are fun to be around.

2. It is sunny, crisp, and beautiful.
I am going on a walk.

3. Laura's Cafe serves a great Creole soul food lunch, and it costs $6.48 for two.

4. The cypress bench I had made is ready, and I am going out to the country to pick it up this afternoon.

5. I have been having some bureaucratic
trouble lately, a great deal of which has been resolved this week. I am therefore far more relaxed today than I was last Saturday.

I just passed the 60 comment mark on one of my posts! YYYYYIIIIIPPPPEEEEEEE!

What else is left to conquer? Alright then. 100 comments you say. Damn.

Daniel - If you keep insisting that gay and lesbian people need "special rights" to cater to their "special needs," I suspect that you're going to get more comments than you can handle.

Wow! Interesting blog all around! Thank you for sharing it with me.

Lovely list of happy moments. :) I used to pick blueberries with my gram. Pan Dulce..mmmm...

I did my latest list a bit ago . Writing what makes me happy helps me focus on the moment of now and appreciate all my gifts as well.

Have a wondrous day!

It's comforting to do this at times in the middle of this polarized political atmosphere.

It's nice to wake up every day!

The little teeny things are what I'm learning to appreciate the most. Lately its been listening to the birds chirping early in the morning when all else is quiet.

Great idea, Melissa. I think it's time for me to do this myself.

Katie - Isn't blueberry picking the best?

Gracie - I love the birds too! So much better to wake up to than the beep beep beep of my alarm clock.

I'll be checking in regularly for your list. :)

Special rights? Special needs? Lynch the person who said that! Now! They're exactly the same as us! Aren't they? Shore.

Shame they don't think so!

Daniel,

Why are you taunting me?

If you want to have this conversation on your page, please do so. But I'm not interested in entertaining it on mine. I am an unapologetic supporter of equal rights. Period.

When you say, "Shame they don't think so," I am assuming that the "they" you are referring to is the gay and lesbian community. I will happily publish your comments on what you think, but you do not speak for "them." I suggest you humble yourself.

This blog does not advocate violence for any reason, especially as a consequence for expressing one's opinion. However, I am deeply offended by your use of the word "lynch." That term has a history in this country, and to suggest, even in jest, that one be "lynched" for his opinion, is an ironic mockery of the overt racism that characterized America for generations. I say that it is ironic because you, Sir, have proposed that we treat the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community to seperate, special rights, just like the ones endowed upon persons of African heritage not too many years ago. Those laws were declared unconstitutional, and it is equally unconstitutional, and immoral to suggest anything less than full, equal protection under the law for all homosexuals.

Sappho,

It's nice to have you back. :)

Here I thought I, as an Australian, was making no more than a simple, tongue-in- cheek reply to your own comment, Mel.

I had no intention to offend and did not realise the American sensitivity to the world lynch. Could I make the point that your history, good or bad, is your responsibility and has nothing to do with me.

Also, I am putting two plus two together and realising that there may be other reasons for the totally unexpected reaction.

Again, I apologise for any unintended consequences from my observation. Attacking anyone or their blog was the very last thing on my mind.

Daniel,
