It's Official

Go read the tombstone of the Bill of Rights at Quaker Agitator, the sharp commentary of Chuck at The Divided States of bu$hmerica.

"It is a rare occasion when a president can sign a bill that he knows will save American lives. I have that privilege this morning."---George W. Bush

Off topic but important, none the less: The one bill that made it to his desk that did meet this qualification, the legislation supporting stem-cell research, he chose not to sign. Maybe what he meant to say was that it is a rare occasion when a president gets to sign a bill that historians will one day identify as the single piece of legislation that took the state of American freedom and democracy from bad to worse.

One of the hallmarks of Evangelical Cultists such as Bush, is "selective truths." Remember the guy that shot the abortion Doctor to "save lives?" The shooter was an Evangelical. That is the kind of insane rationale we're dealing with in Bush. Evidence can be overwhelming, but if they don't agree with it...it doesn't exist.

From freedom and Democracy to tyranny and Fascsism.

That's a great point about the stem cell bill. If he gave a rat's ass it wouldn't be such a rare occasion.
Hopefully this "legislation" will be thrown out by the courts and done so in a way the humiliates Bush and everyone who signed that bill.

I love that cartoon. Good to see it making its way around!

Your Wal*Mart clock might be running a bit slow... :>)

You're the only blog I have yet to see that has the Wal-Mart counter. Sweet it is.

Peace.

Off topic, but important to me and unique to many.
As a ten yr old boy, my biggest hero in the world died in the Vietnam war, saving his fellow soldiers' lifes and being awarded the silver star, the third highest honor that our war-mongering nation awards. This ten year old boy was sad, but very proud of his big brother, for giving his life for our freedom.
But then we pulled out of that war, and all the bad things that were supposed to happen did not happen. It wasn't the central front on the threat of communism(sound familiar?) and as a matter of fact, communism soon became a benign threat. Why did my brother die?
I greive with the families that have lost sons and brothers as well as daughters and sisters to this ill-begotten boondoggle on a daily basis.
May nobody else go through what I, and my family have, and still suffer through. The pain never goes away after losing a loved one to a stupid-ass war.
